How Are Glasses Made

Quite a lot goes into each pair of eyeglasses – it’s much more than simply putting a piece of plastic or glass into a frame. Here’s a brief overview on how prescription glasses are made with Quality assurance.

STEP 1

Verifying optics while the lenses are in the lensometer.

STEP 2

The technician selects the lens pattern that matches the shape of the eyeglass frames and inserts the pattern and the lenses into an edging machine. The machine grinds each lens to its proper shape and places a bevel around the edge of the lens so that the lens will fit the eyeglass frames. Water flows over the lens throughout this process.

STEP 3

The finished eyeglasses are thoroughly cleaned and packed in hard glasses case for delivery to customer.
